International Village

It was the 11th time when the students of our school took part in the international project “International Village” in Slovakia. 29 students with their English teachers J.Larina and A.Novozhilova went to Poland in September. As always they have successfully represented Latvia and its cuisine, visited Krakov and communicated with the students from other countries as well as with the native speakers.

We are waiting for new participants next year!

Public Speaking Conference

In the realm of public speaking, the words of politicians often resonate with the masses, shaping opinions, and driving change. To delve into the essence of persuasive rhetoric, our school is proud to host "The Speeches of Famous Politicians of the 20th and 21st Century" conference. This event aims not only to celebrate the power of oration but also to instil valuable lessons in self-estimation and peer-estimation among our students.

On 20, 21, 27, and 28 February the school held a conference on public speaking, in which pupils of 11a, and 11b Forms took part. Pupils of the 10th and 12th grades acted as spectators and assessors at the same time. English teachers E. Mazure, G. Zaremba, T. Rassolova and I. Surkova acted as judges, as well as Latvian language teachers I.Galevska, I.Strode, S.Krause, culture teacher A.Valtere and history teacher V.Shulce.

Students participating in the conference had the opportunity to assess their strengths and weaknesses as speakers. Through interactive sessions, they learnt to recognize their natural talents, refine their delivery techniques, and build confidence in their ability to address an audience.

Students participated in the conference, putting their newfound skills to the test in a friendly and supportive environment.

By immersing themselves in the speeches of famous people, students gained a deeper understanding of the power of words to inspire, unite, and mobilize. Moreover, the emphasis on self-estimation and peer-estimation equipped them with invaluable tools for personal growth beyond the conference.

We are delighted that the school's Public Speaking Conference has become a tradition that can hardly be overestimated. Special thanks to the organisers of this conference V. Shultse, A. Valtere, E. Mazure, as well as to the Latvian and English teachers.

CLIL Conference "CLIL application for higher achievable results in a foreign language."

In the ever-evolving landscape of education, teachers play a key role in shaping their students' learning experiences. To empower educators with innovative pedagogical approaches, the Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) Conference, dedicated to Public Speaking (Political Speeches) and Drama Lessons, promised to be an important event. Ekaterina Mazure, Galina Zaremba, Irina Grinevska and Elena Larina shared their experience with colleagues from Riga secondary schools and gymnasiums.  The conference provided a unique platform for teachers to delve into the intersection of language proficiency, political discourse, and dramatic arts in the classroom.

E.Mazure and G.Zaremba shared insights on incorporating political speeches into language education. Teachers discovered strategies to develop critical thinking, effective communication, and interdisciplinary knowledge in students through the exploration of historical and contemporary political rhetoric.

I.Grinevska, E.Larina engaged in interactive sessions and demonstrated how drama can be used to reinforce language learning, improve pronunciation, and boost students' confidence.

The CLIL Conference on Public Speaking (Political Speeches) and Drama Lessons offered a dynamic platform for teachers to enrich their pedagogical experience. Integrating public speaking and drama into language education empowers students to become well-rounded and confident individuals.
